L.A. Stories: Leaks, Levees and Library Towers

Out of nowhere, President Bush described the details of an Al Qaeda 2002 plot that was foiled by an arrest of a key player in South East Asia.

Why did Bush choose today to share these details (the Mayor of L.A. had absolutely no clue Bush planned to make the statement about the terror attempt)?

I’m not sure, but it sure seems weird that this positive story was shared with the public just before we’d learn that Libby was authorized by his superiors, a former CIA Offiicial (who happened to coordinate intelligence on the Middle East) has accused the Bush team of ignoring intelligence warnings on the road to the war in Iraq, and that White House was even aware of the New Orleans levee failure well before they’ve admitted in the past.

Concentration is important!
