The feeling on the street (or at least among Netflix shareholders) is that Carl Icahn’s power play at Blockbuster will lead the video giant to pull the plug on their online rental biz.

Icahn wants cost-cutting and the online subscription game costs a lot.

I wonder, looking back, if it would have made sense for Blockbuster to essentially skip the online DVD play and essentially leapfrog to the video on demand and download business which is certain to dominate in the near future.

Better to be early to the future than to be late to the present, no?

Concentration is important!
