Steroids: Curiously Wrong

Take a look at this recent curve ball pitched by MLB Commissioner Bud Selig:

I keep saying, is there something I missed? [Referring to steroid use in the '80s and early '90s]. There are a lot of people saying it now. But I didn’t read any of that or hear any of that then. The retrospect of history is most interesting, and I guess I’m going to have to determine somewhere along the line the accuracy of it. But I’ll do that in a very sensitive manner. I’m sorry. I don’t agree with naming names and hurting people. You can get to the truth in a different way.

I was a smalltime producer for one of the Bay Area’s television stations. I went to hundreds of games during this period. I didn’t miss the story and I was a college punk who did little else than stick my microphone in the pile to get some postgame sound.

No one connected with baseball in any way missed this. No one.
