Arafat’s death and the ensuing re-dedication to the peace process reminded me of an article I wrote a few years ago. That’s the thing about the Middle East peace process. Anything one writes about it has a pretty long shelf life. The article was about my friends George and Andy, two Palestinian brothers who own the store downstairs from my old apartment. What surprised me the most about our relationship was that we so often agreed about the right course in the Middle East. And I imagine, even now, when the media versions of both sides are so hopelessly far apart, there are still plenty of folks on both sides that anxiously await the peace that absolutely has to be inevitable.
