Tony Blair has managed to maintain his power and position despite his very unpopular support of President Bush. But can he possibly survive an attempt to outlaw smoking at pubs and other public places in England?
Blair’s effort is actually part of a broader European movement. After all, you can’t smoke in pubs in Ireland either? The British Parliament is also considering legislation to reduce junk food intake (no junk food commericials on TV before 9pm), promote an active lifestyle and cut down the rate of unprotected casual sex.
Before you know it, they’ll be insisting that the crust remains intact on cucumber sandwiches.
