The Ayes Have It, And Then Some

There was a time, in early 2000, that Richard Armitage was being considered for the Deputy Secretary of Defense job that ultimately went to someone Rummy liked more in that spot; Paul Wolfowitz. How different would are focus had been over the past four years if Armitage had gotten the job?

Cut to 2004. Powell just quit and will be replaced by a Bush loyalist that can out loyal the best of them. And as of this morning, Armitage (as expected) is bolting the State Dept too.

The occasional (and often, pretty gentle) nay votes in this administrartion are dropping like flies. Now we’ll see how things play out when the everyone in the room is always an aye.
