Maria Parra, an Indiana congressional candidate walked out of a televised debate twice because of nasty case of stage fright. The debate was being recorded for broadcast and was therefore never shown.

Parra’s opponent, incumbent Mark Souder, was pretty classy about his opponent’s nerves and explained the that few seconds long debate was not “a commentary on her knowledge of issues, in particular. I believe she was just very nervous.”
Maybe we place too much of an emphasis on this whole public speaking thing when it comes to the election process. After all, Alan Keyes loves to perform in televised debates.
