One of the key results of the vice presidential debate is that all of the pressure is now on George W. Bush next Friday night … Big time.
The debate was probably a draw. But one needs to view it in relation to the past debate. Edwards held his own, but one thing he didn’t do was make voters wonder: “Why is Kerry on the top of this ticket?”
On the other side of the aisle, the opposite is the case. Voters have to be wondering why W is on top of the ticket and Cheney is on the bottom. Cheney came off as so much more certain and secure. It’s almost impossible (as it always has been) to imagine Cheney working under George W. Bush.
Bush needs to change that perception on Friday night. And it will not be easy.
