Hey, if we are looking for more support from allies that we hope will forgive Iraqi debt, shouldn’t we expect that our hometown corporations like Toys R Us, Pepsi and Amex would do the same?
Imagine a world in which the victims of a brutal regime and a costly war would have to pay off reparations to multinational corporations for the crimes committed by the very dictator under whom they suffered.
Morality politics are an unsustainable way to run our foreign policy. But shouldn’t we at least maintain the illusion of being righteous? Especially now that our love for the Iraqi people and our desire to set them free are the only war justifications we’ve got left?
