In each of the last two debates, there has been a moment when Kerry mentioned W’s father. He’ll likely do it again. When Bush plays the fear card and suggests that Kerry will raise taxes on the middle class, expect a read my lips allusion from Kerry.
One other final pre-debate thought:
This is the last debate but the race goes on. What framework that race takes places within is very much at stake tonight. Bush wants the next 20 days to be about Kerry (specifically, scaring people into thinking he’s too weak or too tax-happy). Kerry wants the final weeks to be all about the Bush record over the last four years. He wants to connect voters’ wrong-direction feeling with the guy driving the bus.
