Fox News Comedy is Not Pretty

The Dems have Larry David. The GOP has Carl Cameron. Enough said.

Josh Marshall has been all over the supposedly accidental posting of a story written in “jest” by Carl Cameron (Fox’s chief political correspondent). Among the lines Cameron attributed to Kerry:

“Women should like me! I do manicures.”

“Didn’t my nails and cuticles look great? What a good debate!”

“I’m metrosexual – [Bush's] a cowboy.”

I don’t really care that Fox posted the story. Nor do I care whether it was an error or not. We hardly need a smoking gun to prove that Fox News is biased against John Kerry (or that many of them are clearly insecure about their inner manhood).

No, the biggest surprise here isn’t that Fox isn’t fair and isn’t balanced. The shocker is just how unfunny they are when they’re actually trying to be. The parody coverage of Kerry isn’t nearly as laughable as, say, the first two or three minutes of the average episode of Hannity and Colmes. Now that’s funny.
