The River Boat Gamble

Maybe the theme song of this convention should be Summer of 69.

This week, in addition to featuring a not so gentle reminder that we will be stronger at home and respected in the world (incidentally, that’s a few words away from the most common symptomolgy found in shrink’s offices), the theme of this week will be about Del Sandusky.

Sandusky showed up at a breakfast held to welcome the bloggers to the convention and he began his remarks by saying:

“I was on a river boat with John Kerry in 1969.”

His comments about Kerry were obviously heartfelt and the Senator’s military experience was always going to be a featured part of this campaign (and rightly so).

But if they’re inviting Del Sandusky to drop that line on a bunch of bloggers first thing in the morning on the first day, you can bet we’ll all be hearing it all week long.

So the river begins. The key question is how many people will jump away from the relatively safe confines of the anyone but Bush shores and follow Kerry down that river.

Update: This is a bit incredible, but they just played a version of Rolling on the River at the Fleet Center a few seconds ago.

Concentration is important!
