The Pound Stops Here

The British report on intelligence errors has been released. Jack Straw and others are now arguing that the threat of WMDs really wasn’t at the core of the reason to go to war. That re-writing of history aside, it is interesting to note that although the report’s authors insist that Tony Blair did not in anyway distort the information presented to him by intelligence sources, the Prime Minister did offer something of a buck stops here comment:

“I accept full personal responsibility for the way the issue was presented and therefore for any errors made.”

As we know, in the US these days, the buck only stops at the chairs of those who have recently retired.
