Ron Reagan will be among the primetime speakers at the Democratic Convention in Boston. The appearance will largely deflate any Republican plans to market the Reagan era as having parallels with the W’s tenure. This is true even though Ron Reagan’s speech will be largely limited to the subject of stem cell research:
“If they had asked me to say a few words about throwing George Bush out of office, I wouldn’t do it. This gives me a platform to educate people about stem cell research.”
Of course, the debate over stem cell research is inexorably linked to the roll of religion in politics and policy-making. That is a subject Reagan has criticized W on in the past (quite effectively) and the Convention spot should be no exception.
