And Sometimes YMail

Yahoo has answered Google’s Gmail by upgrading their own email offerings, giving users a similar chunk of hard drive space and freeing up thousands of usernames that have been inactive for years.

The move is not coming a moment too soon. I have already seen many recipients of my NextDraft Newsletter (weekly column, plus blog highlights) make the switch to Gmail.

Yahoo’s challenge in email and elsewhere is to head-off Google’s advances while still being perceived as a marketplace leader.
