One of These Things is Like the Other

With the addition of Google Groups (which is an awful lot like Yahoo Groups), the battle to be your first stop on the net has heated up. What seems clear at this point is that the core functionality (in terms of user adoption and retention and in terms of revenue) is all about search.

Yahoo is a media company that wants you to think of them as search. And Google is a search engine that has rapidly become a full-on media company.

So who will win? Will it come down to whichever company can provide the more accurate search engine? Can Yahoo still catch Google in the search game even if they build a better bot?

Concentration is important!
