A quick note to those of you who, upon learning that the Janet Jackson hosted episode of SNL would be aired without the safety net of a time delay, immediately took your vulnerable family members into television-less panic room: You can come out now. The show was broadcast and no one got hurt. Miss Jackson did gyrate throughout her two musical numbers (ending the second one by rubbing a long poll), and there were references to her appearances on the show Good Times (troublingly titillating for those of us who were in junior high when we watched that show), and we heard constant references to Nipplegate. But fortunately our family values stood firm. Real firm.
