We can all think of a show or two that we absolutely loved that was ultimately ripped from our television clutches by a programming director with an itchy trigger finger (see this for more on why shows get cancelled). But think of how many shows peak in their first season. And think of how many celebrities achieved legendary status due in part to an early demise (we never had to see James Dean on I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here). Sometimes an early cancellation of a critically-acclaimed show sends it from great to legendary instead of from great to something to watch when nothing else is on.
